Additional assistance with our Thailand itinerary: November 29- Dec 3 (2005) at the beach
We would like to spend 4-5 nights at the beach for the conclusion of our vacation. But, obviously the weather is a concern. Based on previous posts, these are our options as I see them:
Hua Hin: sounds like this is our best best weather wise, but some posters have mentioned the beach is not that nice. We would stay either at the Hyatt or Aleenta.
Krabi, Koh Lanta, or Phuket...from the map, these areas look fairly close together so I'm assuming the weather would be similar (?) The beaches are probably better than HH, but will the water be too choppy/high chance of rain/etc...is it not worth the risk? Preference for a particular location? We like casual bars and restaurants, don't need a lot of nightlife and shopping.
Please help!

I would be interested to know what you decide. I've found lots of posts asking the question (which beach in November???), but few where people state where they decided on or follow up with a trip report (and a weather report!). Don't want to end up at a pituresque, postcard-perfect beach and have it rain the whole time!

Hua Hins beaches are not as nice as Phuket,Krabi or Koh Lanta's.The weather at the moment in Phuket is glorious,we have had little rain, the odd shower or two but only for 15 minutes at a time,Temp 30 deg. sea temp 28 calm like a mill pond, and
December will be dry and calm.

we spent a week in HH and quite enjoyed the time and were not at all bored...we did not however look to fill every minute with activities...it is an old fashioned type town...laid back...a couple of nice side trips to the national park and the pineapple cannery and the elephant camp make for a diversion...the beach is nice but not fabulous...the sun is very hot so you can not be out unprotected for long periods..

Thank you all for your input...we are leaning towards Krabi. Our first choice for a place to stay is the Tubkaak, but I also read about the Sunrise Tropical Resort, which sounds interesting. Any feedback on either? Which is in a better location?
We have decided to add 4 night in Hong Kong to our trip on the way home, so the beach portion of our trip will be 4 nights (3 full days).
