Hi, can anyone confirm that universal adapters such as this one (http://www.amazon.com/All-One-Travel...dp_product_img) can be used in India? I know the country uses both round 2- and 3-prong plugs, but just wanted to make sure that I can use such an adapter above (that only appears to have 2 round prongs) to charge small electronics such as camera battery, ipod, etc.

i don't think it would do..

the modern india adapter is a 3 prong LARGE round plug with prongs in a triangle. but there are also other adapters in use... it really depends on your location...

Actually, I think that thing includes the trianlge adapter, but the top prong is hiding in the photo. I took just the small two round plug adapter and found that one was always anywhere that didn't have the universal outlet plugs. Oddly, many places would have all three types scattered around a room.

the older the property, the more likely that is.I came close to breaking the adaptor plug i had, trying to force it into some of the outlets.

It was probably overkill, but i wanted to make sure one of them would work. Had no problems, but can't recall which i used !!

Well, in some hotels especially in metros ,they do work. I stayed with a friend and was able to use one of those at his place.

Thanks all. My friend whose wedding I'm attending in Delhi says European 2-prongs are widely accepted, and that it is usually cheaper to buy the 3-prong there instead of stateside anyway if need it.

We used the large three prong adapter all over India. We ordered it on line as it was difficult to find. I wouldn't want to first have to look for an adapter once you arrive in India.

Post-trip, just wanted to confirm (in case anyone comes across this post) that I was able to use the round 2-prong adapter (ie, Europe adapter) in Delhi and Agra in 3 different hotels for my small electronic devices (camera battery, ipod).

We know that the Krojo adaptor for India works. Try to get one of those.

You are unlikely to find an adaptor if you leave it till you get to India.

Just the same as if you came from another country, to Australia, you are unlikely to beable to purchase an adaptor to use our power points. Purchase them in your own country.
Yes, the power points can be different from one state to the next.
