Adaman Islands from Bangkok?

Greetings fellow travelers. We're planning on 5 days in Koh Samui, Thailand, and wanted to add a second leg on our journey, maybe another 4-7 days. Was thinking about Adaman Islands? Anyone have recommendations/comments on the Adamans? Or suggest another additional destination to our trip? (We've already spent a good deal of time in Bangkok).

We're going in March or April. We're late 40s and enjoy beach, culture, art, off-the-beaten track.

Hua Hin is a nice seaside town with a pleasant "urban" beach. You could add a few days there on on the way from Bangkok.

Kanchanuburi is a fabulous riverside town with lots of history, wildlife and beautiful countryside to explore.

I can't really see the need to add another island. There is plenty to do on and around Samui to keep you occupied. If you want more beach time, have you considered extending your time there or just Island hopping to Phangan or Tao?

The Andaman Islands are in India and quite a haul from Bangkok. The only flights going there will be from India. Are you thinking of a Thai island in the Andaman sea?

If your budget permit then try the Soneva Kiri which will be a big different from the very touristy Koh Samui.

Do note that the middle of April, 13 - 16, is the Songkran holiday or the Thai New Year. Lots of closures in the major cities and lots of people driving around. Most of the resort towns in Thailand will be very, very full.
