A Year in China

One of my former students is researching in China for a year; he's in the general area of Chengdu, but traveling around, in some cases to rather small villages and in others to better-known sites. There is a lag time on the blog, but I love the view that it gives of a China that I'd barely glimpsed.

It's written blog style (bottom post is the earliest, for example, and, well, we did teach him capitalization) but I'm hoping you'll find it of interest: http://freiheitinchina.blogspot.com/

A real slice of life in China. I like his sense of adventure, he's not a "super-daredevil", but he's obviously very open to meeting new people and traveling to new places and eating different things, etc..

Well done--and to his teacher, too. ;)

Very nicely written, I definitely will enjoy following his adventures.

Amy - I tried. Is there a way to turn off the background that the text is on? It's all to busy looking for me.

Yeah, coldie, I thought about that for those of us with, um, less young vision. (I'm a teacher, I can read pretty much anything.) I don't know the logistics of what he's got there, but you can easily* copy/paste into a Word document (and maybe change the text to black) if you're so inclined (or really bored today or whatever...)

*easily=if I can do it, it's got to be pretty easy

BC, "sense of adventure" is a great description--and his teacher thanks you. :)

Shanghainese, glad you enjoyed it!

I can read it, but the background is PISSING ME OFF.

Oh wait, that is yet another sign of being over 30, 40, 45, 48, 50 ... :(
