A weekend in Penang

I have not traveled to Penang for more than a decade. I understand it has really become quite cool. My wife are enjoy the arts and I hear of new enclaves. Would appreciate some advise from Penang savvy Fodorites! I have been booked into the Rasa Sayang in Batu Ferringhi. Also of course, where to eat eat and whats new apart form Guerney Drive and Jalan Tikus.

We were there last month and really enjoyed cycling around the old town taking pictures of the recent (a couple of years ago) street arts. There's also a complex of converted shop houses call "China House" that sells food, cakes and paintings which had a nice relaxing atmosphere near the Armenian Street. Food was not that good but the cakes were!

There's a new mall on Guerney drive but the shops were not that interesting.

Sadly I did not find any restaurant that I like in Penang and the street food did not "wow" me either.

We're heading to Penang in early March and I bookmarked the following which may or may not be useful. A walking tour by the Penang Heritage Trust, a cooking school and an article on street food. Disappointed to hear Hanuman wasn't impressed.

Not sure when you're going but look forward to hearing about your trip.,-malaysia/

There's also a lot on Penang on the EatingAsia website
