The apartment sounds great, Carol. I'll have to ask Cheryl to show me the photos, being someone who refuses Facebook.

Kathie Dec 18th, 2014 06:25 PM

That balcony is huge!

rhkkmk Dec 19th, 2014 04:47 AM

hawaiiantraveler Dec 19th, 2014 07:43 AM

I'm not on here too often lately but so glad to see you in Bangkok! Enjoy your time there and Mele Kalikimaka to you and yours....Brad too :)

Aloha!

Smeagol Dec 19th, 2014 11:21 AM

The balcony is enormous!

rhkkmk Dec 19th, 2014 12:23 PM

what they failed to tell you is that that balcony is hosting two thai weddings this weekend

simpsonc510 Dec 19th, 2014 02:18 PM

The balcony is shared with one other Panorama Suite, but we have yet to see our neighbors!

Yesterday is a bit of a blur, what with getting settled into the apartment and then lots of sleep...... hopefully I can get out and do something today. It's after 6am and the sun is not yet appearing over Bangkok.

Bob, the balcony is large enough to hold two weddings! Unreal actually. I can't recall ever seeing one this large ever before. Someone is coming in to this suite for the new year festivities. I swear, from this vantage point, you can probably see every fireworks display this city has to offer! We must have a 300 degree view. The only direction we can't see is due east! The river is in view as is Sukhumvit. We are 37 floors up and there is really nothing blocking the view.

We shall see what today brings. I'm ready (to do it slowly)!

Carol

I just realized my title should read 7, not 9, years in a row. Oops...

kuranosuke Dec 19th, 2014 09:18 PM

wow two weddings. anyone i know? i don't have facebook, shy, so i don't know how huge the lanai is, but i can imagine. i had a nice lanai when i stayed there a few years ago. happy holidays.

Guenmai Dec 19th, 2014 10:54 PM

I don't do Facebook either. I remember that serviced apartment building as I e-mailed them for a booking for the trip that I was planning in 2012, for Jan 2013, but unfortunately had to cancel. I had several places booked for that trip as I like to try different places. Maybe I'll take a walk-through of it when I arrive next week now that it's back on my mind. All of my places are already booked for this upcoming trip.

Happy Travels!

simpsonc510 Dec 19th, 2014 11:21 PM

Guenmai, this suite was the only room available! I didn't pre-book anything because deciding to make this trip was a day by day decision. DS arrived in Bangkok the day before DH and I arrived. His job was to get us an apartment with balcony and laundry facilities. He did exceptionally well.

I ventured out today, going with DH to Foodland for groceries and then having lunch at their restaurant. Relaxing a bit in the warmth of the sun, maybe a nap, and then hopefully making it to Beer Vault tonight to see our musician friend Lee.

simpsonc510 Dec 20th, 2014 06:33 AM

We walked to Terminal 21 and had dinner at Tony Roma's. Lee started singing at 9pm on soi 15 at The Beer Vault, Sheraton Four Points. Wow... busy day. Back to the apartment by 10:15. This is the last night of fireworks and musical entertainment at Queen Sirikit Park, just below our balcony. We think it's for the King's birthday. Great view!

I should sleep very well tonight.

Glad to see and hear you are finding things you can eat. Enjoy the warm weather. We woke up to a dusting of snow. No ice cream yet?

Florida1 Dec 21st, 2014 08:27 AM

We are on the plane at DFW, heading to Bangkok too! Sounds like you are having a great time! We spend a night in Hong Kong on the way. We got business class award tickets going, but coach coming home.

welltraveledbrit Dec 21st, 2014 11:46 AM

Glad you made it there safely and hope Bangkok is the perfect place to recuperate.

dgunbug Dec 21st, 2014 12:55 PM

Carol - so glad to hear you are recovering and spending your holiday in Bangkok again. Sorry to hear bout your recent illness.

simpsonc510 Dec 22nd, 2014 05:43 PM

Another busy day yesterday. We took a taxi to MBK where I got a fresh haircut and looked around Tokyu store. We then walked to Paragon for lunch. We ate Italian at Amici. Spaghetti was all dente, but not enough tomato sauce for my taste. It filled me up in any case.

After lunch we shopped the Gourmet Market. DH and I took the sky train to Asok and then walked to our apartment on soi 16. The exercise is good for me.

Today will be a hunt for a nice Bangkok postcard to send to the wonderful rehab facility back home, where I spent about two weeks after my surgery. The nurses and therapy staff were all pulling for me to make this holiday trip. I want them to know that I made it!

Also, hoping to make it to Pickled Liver tonight to meet up with friends.

Moving slowly but can't help but think this trip is just what the doctor ordered.

Kathie Dec 22nd, 2014 06:48 PM

I'm so glad, Carol. I think this trip is just what you need.

kmkrnn Dec 23rd, 2014 04:01 AM

Agree!

Florida1 Dec 24th, 2014 12:18 AM

It sounds like you are having a good time and I'm so glad!
