A question for a Thai

I'm planning a few short trips to neighboring countries and would take to take my Thai wife with me. What are the tourist visa requirements for Thais wishing to enter Lao? Cambodia? Burma? Vietnam?

Vietnam, no. The rest yes.

Be careful of Cambodia as the regulations have changed recently and you can get the wrong advice.

Tangata, what exactly does "Vietnam, no. The rest yes" mean.

Sorry, I amswered that in a hurry last evening. Thais do not need Visas for Vietnam, but do for the other three countries. A visa for Cambodia can be got on arrival, but Burma and Lao visas have to be got in advance.

If I cross a land border into Cambodia, I have to pay 1000TB for a visa on arrival, will my Thai wife also have to pay 1000TB for a visa on arrival. I thought there was some agreement between ASEAN countries?

The last time we were in Cambodia, September of 2005, we entered from Vietnam at the Mekong border point and it cost each of us $25. I believe that it is normally $20, I think we had a "fee" involved with ours.

In 2005 this was a very recent change and appears to be linked to the anti Thai riots in Cambodia some months earlier.

Visa requirements are posted at http://www.mot.gov.kh/visa.asp
