Greg - just to clarify things, I agree that the resort was lovely, but we were not looking to relax and felt there was nothing to do other than swim and have a spa treatment if so desired. We had already taken a boat ride and had no desire to do that again. There were people staying there at the same time as us that did take the sunset cruise and we were told they thought it a waste of time and money.

Hey dgunbug, I get your point.
Yes the resort is actually meant for relaxing and there is nothing much to do around. And that's exactly what we wanted

Dgunbug, didn't you stay at a different hotel than GregR? I think he is descrbing a specific hotel--Kumarokom Lake Resort.

There are many hotels along that stretch of Vembanad Lake: Coconut Lagoon, Kumarokom Lake Resort, Taj Vivanta (where, for those who've read "The God of Small Things" there's an interesting connection) and a few others. Each is unique.

That said, the main point of all is to relax and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the area, and if that is not what travelers want, they are better off with a brief--if any-- stay only.

Greg, have been following your report for a while and all wishes for your return next year. My wife have been in touch with Takemetoindia and we are thinking of booking with them for a 2 weeks holiday around Christmas. They have been very careful in planning the itinerary and activities, and I would like to reward them with our well deserved booking. Did you paid upfront?

Happy new year to all

Greg, wanted to drop a message to tell you that we had an amazing time in India. Traveling there have just made an everlasting impact on us, especially my wife who is planning for another trip much longer in duration than what we did recently. Christmas in Goa (it was crowded though) was a good idea, spending time at the Taj hotel for most of the days. Takemetoindia company lived to our expectations in sorting out transfers, hotels and getting to different cities. Very professional service and attention to details. I hope you preparing for your return trip to India. Do write how everything unfolds, keen to know about Bhutan too!

India is a vast South Asian country with diverse terrainfrom Himalayan peaks to Indian Ocean coastline – and history reaching back 5 millennia. In the north, Mughal Empire landmarks include Delhi’s Red Fort complex and massive Jama Masjid mosque, plus Agra iconic Taj Mahal mausoleum.
