9 PM arrival in Narita
Hi,
I am thinking about transfer options from Narita to Tokyo (Sheraton Miyako Hotel). We will be arriving on an ANA flight, which is due to land in Terminal 1 at 9 PM. My understanding is that the best option for getting directly to our hotel would be the airport limo bus. However, the last one seems to depart at 9:40 PM. Is there any way we would be able to catch that?? I imagine the next best option would be the Narita Express to Shinagawa (switch to the JR Yamanote line to Meguro, from where the hotel offers a free shuttle bus). But again, the last NEX seems to be 9:44 PM. After that I guess we are left with the Keisei to Nippori to JR Yamanote all the way round to Meguro. What time do you think we can reasonably be through passport control, baggage claim, etc? Am I missing any better option? Thanks! |
The last limo bus I see leaves T1 at 23:25 bound for Shinagawa and the Sheraton Miyako. You missed the last row of times.
The Last N'EX is see leaves T1 at 22:46 bound for Shinagawa http://jreast-shinkansen-reservation..._nex_u/07.html Aloha! |
Oooops, the N'EX leaves at 9:44, you are correct
|
Hmm I'm not seeing the 23:25 limo bus...where are you seeing that HT?
|
Too early here. Yes the last bus is 21:45
|
Any chance we could make a 21:45 bus with 21:00 scheduled landing? Is there another better option I'm not considering?
|
Yes there is a chance if you are quick and lucky. Where are you coming from? At that time of night there shouldn't be many or any other flights into NRT so wait time should not be long at immigration. That said you should be prepared to be quick getting off your flight and into the immigration line. Usually planes get into NRT a little earlier than scheduled from the States but any delay and your looking at taking an expensive taxi into Tokyo or if your schedule allows you can overnight at a hotel in the nearby town of Narita before heading on with your Japan itinerary.

The Keisei trains run until about 22:40 and you would still have time to change at Nippori for the Yamanote line til almost midnight.....
|
I vote for taking an airport hotel. It will just be your rotten luck if your plane is late. On top of this depending on your origin you'll have been already traveling for many hours.

There is a low-cost (1000 Y) bus service from Narita to Tokyo Station (and Ginza) called "The Access Narita"), and the last bus leaves at 10:30pm. (From Tokyo station, you can take a taxi to hotel, or Yamanote line to Shinagawa if not too late.)

Thanks all! Keeping my fingers crossed that we arrive early...if not we should be able to make it to Tokyo one way or another.
Sue, I like your idea but we have our 5th night free in our hotel so it seems silly to stay only 4 nights and pay for a night in Narita. |
Thanks for all the suggestions above.
Update: Our flight landed on time and we hustled through immigration, baggage claim, the ATM, and customs in time for the bus. With about 7 minutes to spare! |
