9.25 pm arrival at KLIA & train downtown
 

Hi,

Just wondered if it is safe to catch the train downtown at that time. I understand the train is way quicker than a cab or hire car & driver, so we've looked at the train option.

Any other suggesstions?

Yes, it's quite safe. And it is the fastest, easiest way into the city.

I prefer the train even when traveling with someone, when it's more expensive than a taxi. On my trip there last month I noted there was now a new 'executive' service that allowed you to book a combined train and limo ticket, so you'd be met by a limo for transfer to your hotel once you got to Sentral. Otherwise you just get in the taxi queue.

Michael, the Exec Service has existed for some time we used it when we went to KL in 2004. It provides one of the smoothest transfers from airport to hotel I've experienced anywhere.

OP, just remember to purchase a taxi coupon at the city terminal (KL Sentral) to your destination on arrival, and you won't be ripped off.

The train journey from KLIA to the city will take approx 35 mins, so KL Sentral should be reasonably busy (the retail areas close at around 10pm, but the LRT should still be running).

Kathie, yes I've known of the service for some time, but I thought before it was a third party thing you had to book in advance. Now it seems to be something you can purchase at the express train counter when you arrive. Maybe it's always been that way and they're just promoting it now so it got my attention.

I see, Michael. We did purchase at the counter on arrival when we used it.
