8 days - where to go?
Hi, I'm back on the Asia board, planning a trip to Asia in Mar. We'll be in Hong Kong and then have about 8 days to go to another country. I need some suggestions on where to go. I'm debating between Japan, Malayasia/Singapore or Thailand. We've been to Bangkok before but we didn't have enough time to see much, so can definitely go back again. My husband and I don't mind whether it is beach or city. Any suggestions?

Since you are going to a major city already, skip Singapore (unless the two of you are total urban dwellers).
Malaysia and Thailand are good bets. In Thailand, try Phuket and Chiang Mai.
In Malaysia, you can go to Langkawi (beach place) and Kuala Lumpur.

From Hk Hanoi is very near - just an hours fliught. If vietnam interests you you could combine Hanoi with either a beach or Hoi An or Hue. Hanoi, Halong Bay plus 1 other place will be perfect for 8 days.

Mitmap,
I think that with just 8 days in your pocket for that part of Asia you should go to Siem Reap, Cambodia, and indulge in the temples of Angkor: they're awe-inspiring (well, one simply can't describe their beauty) and have probably the most beautiful setting in the whole world. Or maybe you've already been there???

Thanks everyone for their wonderful suggestions, we've never been to any of these other places before. To complicate matters further, my husband is on a strict no sugar/no dairy/no flour diet. He has no problem with the food in HK or Thailand, so I'm assuming he should be ok with the foods in the region, right?
