7 days in Nepal, any suggestions?
 

hello all,

I'm from China and recently me and my friends (some girls) are planning a trip to Nepal in October 1st from Guilin, China, and wondering which part of this country to visit and what to see, kinda interested in temples and culture there, so might spend a week or so. We have never been to Nepal before. Do we need to join a group or get someone make the itinerary for us or if it's better just go with the flows? what do we need to pack ? Is it safe for girls to travel in there? Does anyone has been there have any suggestions?

No need to join a tour group, easy to do on your own.

It is quite easy to travel on your own and make arrangements at the last minute. However, I see that you are planning to go in October, so that is peak season and you may want to make plans ahead of time.

We just spent three weeks in Nepal and actually enjoyed some of the lesser visited places the most.

Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square
Patan Durbar Square
Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Namo Buddha in Banepa
Bandipur
Pokhara
Langtang, Poonhill,Sundarijaal etc if you like to trek
Amitabh Gumba/white Monastery
Shivapuri Hill
Dhulikhel
Godawari a plant sanctuary
Chitwan and Bardia National Park
Lamjung,a Gurung Village
Manakamana Temple
Gorkha
Nuwakot
Ichangu Narayan Temple
etc.

You can easily visit Nepal on your own. But a guide is the one to be your mediator.

Pashupatinath - (if you like morbid curiosity). Too many tourists camera-clicking as the cremations warm-up.

Nargakot - for an overnight stay and sunrise. (take a torch).

Kirtipur - a small town and living museum, and it's traffic-free. West of Kathmandu, just outside the Ring Road. Easy to reach by public bus from the City Bus Park.

Dulikehel - about 90 minutes SE of Kathmandu by public bus from the City Bus Park. A lovely drive through the Kathmandu Valley. Walk up the 700+ steps to the Kali shrine for magnificent 360 degree views
