50th anniversary
 

hi there, am thinking about a 50th wedding anniversary trip to say one week Hong kong, and another in a all inclusive in Thailand, we are both active but donot want to push our luck.
we are from the Uk, and are open to any sugestions

When you speak of an "all inclusive in Thailand" are you referring to a tour or a resort?

What time of the year are you traveling? How much time total do you have?

In June/July Koh Samui will have much better weather than the Phuket side. I believe you'll have to change planes in Bangkok to get to Koh Samui from Hong Kong.

I don't know of any all-inclusive resorts in Thailand, but there are many lovely resorts. Here's one I ran across today when I was looking for accommodtaions elsewhere: www.napasai.com

It's an Orient-Express hotel, so it should be really lovely.

You might just want to browse through hotel options on a Thai booking site. The one I use most often is www.sawasdee.com

With a week in Hong Kong, you could take a day trip to Macau if you wish. It's very easy via hydrofoil. Or there is plenty to keep you busy and interested in Hong Kong.

food is very reasonable in thailand, so i would bag the "all inclusive"...doubt the food is all that great....

tons of places for every budget....tell us how much per day and i think we can beat it...

I would not go to an all inclusive place in Thailand. It is a very tourist friendly place that is very easy to explore at one's own pace. It can be very relaxing with short sight-seeing adventures. If you stay at a river hotel in Bangkok and a resort in Ko Samui, I think you will find it to be delightful. We will be glad to chime in with suggestions.

as far as I know there is only the ClubMed on Phuket island as an all-inclusive. The 2nd one they had in Thailand (Aldiana in Pranburi) changed to an Evason several years ago and is now a 5star beach resort.
I agree with the others, prices even in better hotels or restaurants are very reasonable compared with good Old England.
The cuisine is fantastic and its even safe to eat outside at smaller places.
For Hongkong and Macao 4 or 5 days should be enough. Do the rest in Thailand, you wont regret it.
