5 full days in Bali
 

I saw the post for 3 weeks in Bali. Since we only have 5 full days in Bali (travel days on days 6 and 7), I am wondering how much time we should stay in Ubud and how many days for Sanur or should we just make our base Ubud and take sidetrips. We aren't much for needing to relax on the beach. We are quite interested in the culture and the sites. Please advise.

Ubud is more toward the center of the Island and is a good jumping off place for day trips in any direction. There are a lot of interesting things to do in Ubub it's self. Many good restaurants of differering price points in the area, and a good choice of hotels, again at all levels. If you don't need the beach , that is the place for you.

I agree with kmk - if lounging on the beach is not important, stay in Ubud. Hire a driver to take you around. Do a search on Putu Arnawa - he has helped many on this forum.

for that short of time you would waste a 1/2 day moving...my first trip we stayed a week and 1/2 all in sanur and got all around the island...

i favor sanur for its small town feeling and ubud for more upscale restaurants, although sanur is ok too, and better shopping...ubud is more touristy....sanur has nice beaches....all have nice pools..

I paid 25 bucks visa fee for a 3 day visit in Bali airport earlier this year.

They should be
US$10 fees for a 7-day visa
US$25 fees for a 30-day visa
