Thanks everyone for the information and interesting discussion. Well I asked the Dad who started this whole discussion in my son's P2P group for the CDC cite re: Shanghai is a malaria risk. Dad just sent an email that he didn't see the CDC warning only applied to the RURAL areas of the Shanghai PROVINCE. (Dad's caps). So he is now sending all the parents an email noting his "oversight." Looks like us parents didn't need to panic afterall (which is what I thought in the first place).

You guys have been great on this board with all your help for my son's trip. While he is gone i'll be visitng Walt Disney World with younger daughter (we'll pretend to be in China)so i'll post about his trip when we all return.

If you are in Epcot try the Chinese restaurant. It is very good!
