5 days in Burma/Myanmar

Hi, I have 5 days in Myanmar. Yes, probably not the right amount of time to spend there, but unfortunately that's the way it is.

I arrive at 5pm on the 18th and leave at 7:30pm on the 23rd. Currently, I have nothing planned in or outside of Yangon.

I am somewhat interested in going somewhere I can moto around, but I don't think I want to trek it all the way to Bagan, at least this holiday.

What can I do in the time I have?

You can't moto in Yangon - in fact no one can. No motor bikes allowed in the city.

I'd strongly suggest that you choose one place (in addition to Yangon) to see in Burma. You'll need to fly with your limited time, but it will be well worth it. I'd choose either Bagan or Inle Lake.

Too bad you don't have more time.

Agree with Kathie - I wouldn't spend that long in Yangon.

That's what I am asking for suggestions for.

Pick either Bagan or Inle Lake. You could easily spend three days in either place. Decide if you prefer seeing temples in Bagan (with a possible side trip one day to Mt Popa) or water life in the Inle Lake region. I wouldn't suggest more than that for 5 days. Both places are wonderful.

Agree with the previous posts. Personally, I thought 1 night in Yangon was good enough. Shwedagon Paya is a must see (I saw it at night and it was lovely) and perhaps the market (can be skipped).

I would rather fly to Bagan or Inle Lake as someone pointed out. It's not far by air and both cities have A LOT more to offer than Yangon.

I would recommend Yangon, Bago (day 02) and Inle Lake or Mandalay (the rest). In Inle Lake, Mandalay and Bago you can drive motor around.

It is not too bad if you drive Inle Lake to Kalaw and Pindaya, the landscape around is scenic for sure.

Hope this helps!

I sure wouldn't waste time with either Bago or Mandalay with your short time choose one of the two readily accessible "wow" locations, either Bagan or Inle.

I,too, recommend either Bagan or Inle Lake for a 5 day trip.

I strongly urge you to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda when you're in Yangon. I think it is an essential stop for anyone making the trip.

Yes, tennismaine, I agree, Shwedagon Pagoda is a must-see. Go in the evening.

We went to Shwedagon in the evening as well - - so glad we did. Had dinner at Singapore Kitchen closeby and then walked over.
