4 DAYS in KERALA...
 

HI all, hoping someone could help advise. My sis and I only have 4 nights in Kerala region and really want to experience as much culture/arts and village life as we can while we are there and get a bit off the beaten path. We definitely want to see the backwaters but no need to spend a night on boat for us. We like to keep moving and are not beach people. We were given two itineraries and I would love your feedback/advice on these places if possible.

TRIP 1- 2 nights in Cochin/ 1 night in Kayal Island/ I night in Mannaas Veedu
TRIP 2- 2 nights in Kollam/ 1 night in Cochin/ 1 night in Thrissur

I was in the state of Kerala this last September, and it was the highlight of my two week trip in South India. I spent two nights in Cochin and two nights in Alleppey, and it was perfect. I believe it took about two hours or so by car to get between the two destinations, but we stopped at a fascinating museum on the way.

I am not sure about the other destinations you mentioned, but I would prefer to make two stops instead of three with only four nights. It is just too much schlepping.

I traveled with Indian Panorama on a private tour, but you really only need a driver to get you from point A to point B on this trip.

Could you please tell the names of lodging where you stayed in the four Kerala places you describe? Also...there's an excellent photo of multicolored fields in the distance, in Munnar....from which road and viewpoint was this taken?

Thank you CaliNurse for your message! We stayed in Forest Glade in Munnar (it gas a jacuzzi in the room balcony overlooking the tea gardens!), Sealine Beach Resort in Cherai, Niyati bnb in Fort Kochi and Citrus Hotel in Alleppey.

The view of the multicolored fields is one of my favourite memories of the trip. We had chanced upon it on the way to Top Station after leaving travelling a few kilometers up from Kundla lake. The place is called Ellapati (just find the valley on the right side while driving up yo Top).
