3G Cell Phones - Will they work in Seoul and Bali?

Travelling to Tokyo, Seoul and Bali. I know that my 3G phone will work in Tokyo, but Seoul and Bali? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Well, I should qualify that. It'll work if your 3G phone can use the standard worldwide frequency (2100). 3G in the US is nonstandard and the different companies use different frequencies (e.g., T-Mo uses 1700). Not all US 3G phones can operate on 2100. An Iphone can.

My Australian Telstra 3G does, both on global roaming and with the local sims I buy in Bali. You may need to check with your carrier/manufacturer, if it's not clear what frequency your 3G uses.

3G in Japan is mainly UMTS (also called W-CDMA) on 2100 MHz, used by two operators, DoCoMo and SoftBank. There is also an operator (KDDI-au) that uses CDMA2000, which is mainly used in US (e.g. Verizon).
3G in South Korea also uses UMTS on 2100MHz.
Bali (Indonesia) also employs UMTS on 2100MHz.
