Is it 3 days or 3 nights? If it's 3 days(2 nights) then it doesn't really give you much time with only 1 full day in Phuket. I've only done this once but I think it's fun and you might like it too: http://www.johngray-seacanoe.com/tha...ayinisland.htm

For hotels what is your budget?

Phuket beaches range from quiet to very busy. Nighlife ( if you are interested ) is centered in Patong, very Euro/western style, lots of pubs and bars and other things. Very built up.

What price range are you looking for, now is high season. Accommodation ranges so much. There are hundreds of hotels and resorts from low budget to best luxury.

Kata and Karon are quieter. Kamala, Bangtao and Surin quieter still.

How you you want to plan your days ? Lazing around the pool, some sightseeing for the day or and plans to do boat trips ?

Popular is a day trip to Phi Phi or trips around Phang Nga. But these take up a full day.
There are standard touristy things like Siam Safari and Elephant ride.

Evenings vary from quiet to 'crazy'. There is Phuket Fantasea for what is termed a spectacle show, look it up, you will see whether it would appeal. There are other shows if you were into that.
We need to know more of the things you would like to do and whether you are thinking about 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 star style places to stay, boutique or larger style.

Thanks for the fast replies guys, Gonna have probably 3 days and 3 nights at Phuket if I plan everything right. My price range for hotels is probably around $100-150. We are both in the mid 20s so hoping to stay in the center of everything. Probably looking maybe 1 day enjoying the beaches and the rest exploring the island. Also do you think 2day/night is enough for Bangkok maybe I should try to squeeze in 3 days.

IMO, Bangkok has much more to offer than Phuket. Phuket has the beach and the water - go and enjoy that and forget "exploring the island."

There are two brand new hotels there, Citin Plaza Patong and Citrus Heights Patong, that you may want to check out. Patong is definitely the main area you would need to stay.

The Marriot resort at phuket is actually a place to be if you want to be in the center of everything.

The Marriott is not 'in the center of everything' exactly the opposite, it is where you might stay to be away from crowded areas.

Perhaps you are referring to the Courtyard by Marriott in Patong ?

"Patong is definitely the main area you would need to stay" only if your priorities were tourist shopping and busy nightlife" - what's the big push for Citin places ?
