3 1/2 Days Hanoi ---Halong bay?
Hello All. As I sit at a computer at a hotel in Hue, Vietnam and swat away mosquitos, I have to make a last minute decision about my time in Hanoi. It looks like I will have 3 1/2 days for Hanoi. Should I squeeze in Halong Bay? Or shall I spend a more casual time seeing the city. We have had a wonderful dinner invitation from a family in Hanoi and I know what will be a highlight which I won't want to miss. Thanks for your insight.

For me, I would spend all of the time in Hanoi, no question. We spent a week which was just the right amount of time. There is lots to see and do in Hanoi, and in three and a half days, you'll have time to get a flavor for the city. Halong Bay takes one very long day (which is generally advised against) or with an overnight stay on a boat, it'll take two of your days.

I was in Hanoi for just 2 days and regreted not having stayed longer! Loved Hanoi.
I was in a night cruise in Halong bay and to tell you the truth, though halong bay is lovely, I would be happier if i had spent this day in Hanoi instead!
