24 HRS limit for transit passengers W/O China Visa at PVG?

My flight is sheculed to arrive Shanghai PVG at 3 PM, the connection flight is 11 AM next morning. I was told that transit passengers have 24 hours limit without a China VISA, and are allowed to get out the airport as long as it's within 24 hours. Is this information accurate?

Where would you suggest for a reasonable(US$50+-), clean, safe overnight staye? Does it have to be close by the airport? How is the public transportation to/from airport/city?

An option is available for a free night stay, with SPG points at the Four Points by Sheraton at Daning. Is this a good place to stay for one night?

Your help/info is most appreciated.

Where would you suggest to visit for such short period?

Never been there before and do not plan to visit at this time/trip.

From the Chinese embassy website:

"1. Direct transit

A foreign national who is transiting China by international flight is exempted from applying for a visa only give that he or she is remained in the airport not exceeding 24 hours and has valid air ticket to connect flight with confirmed seating.

Citizens holding passports issued by the following nations are not required to obtain a visa given he or she transit by Shanghai and stay up to 48 hours: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, ROK, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, US ."

Can't you use the Four Points at Pudong? Or any other SPG properties closer to city center? The 4P at Daning is one of the furthest *wood properties from PVG in Shanghai.

4 Pts at Daning requires the least points.

Yes, the other 4 pts at 2111 Pudong Nan Rd is also a possibility, is this a much better choice?

If I am reading it correctly, the above response from the Chinese embassy, I can stay up to 48 hours(holding USA passport), which allows 2 nights in Shanghai. I may consider doing that.

Thanks for your help.

Any SPG property is better than the one in Daning, location wise. PVG is SE of central Shanghai, while Daning is north of it. Since you have the time to do a bit of sightseeing, and your flight is not that early out of Shanghai, best is to stay in the Bund area. Next will be the Pudong area, which is across the river from the old city center, but closer to PVG than the Bund.

Hello, visas are not required in immediate transit on connected international flights who hold passenger tickets and stay for no more than 24 hours in China entirely within airport boundaries. Anyone desiring to leave the airport temporarily must obtain permission from the frontier inspection office. If you want to stay in a hotel near the airport, you need the permission from the frontier inspection office.
