sad and infuriating article about Corbett:

Actually it was the 3 or 4 just standing together, Cokesmith.

CaliNurse, that is very upsetting. I had thought that Corbett was a success story. How wrong I was.

Sorry all - I've been away a while (my computer died and then I went on a mini-vacation to Oregon at the end of May with no access to internet) but I'm back!

Haha - Marilyn - I'm a very unlucky person and would never dream to have atravelynn's luck. But a little of that luck would be great! Were you at the King's Lodge when you stayed at Bandhavgarh?

I asked Wild World India about Tala zone and they were very dodgy...I think I need to nail that down. They said something to the effect that they would "try" to get me into that zone. Could be the person I spoke to - I'm dealing with a different booking agent than atravelynn dealt with for her trips.

As far as the Taj, hopefully I'll have luck given I'll be there an afternoon/evening and also an early morning to see it. I know with travel - even regular sightseeing - nothing can really be guaranteed, but I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Atravelynn, I haven't checked out your posts yet, but did you do a trip report for this last one? And which did you like better as far as where you stayed in Bandhavgarh? Honestly, if the others are more expensive, I don't know if I can swing switching - I'm at the max of what I can afford right now and airfare keeps going up (I think it's because gas prices are going up).

I can't believe it's only 9 months away since it seems like I've been planning forever. Can't wait! Thank you all for your comments. I haven't read the Corbett article yet, but I have a feeling I'm not going to like it!

Yes, we stayed at King's Lodge in Bandhavgarh. We liked it a lot. Very nice accommodations and lovely people.

Buy your air NOW if possible. Only up from here. WE've picked up all of our breaks' tickets now - all the way through spring of 2013.

Tala was the zone on both my WWI trips--13 total Tala drives and none in any other zone. I worked with Vikram and also Randhir this last time when Vikram was gone.

A trip report is going up tonight. Tiger Lagoon was very luxurious and had better birding due to the lagoon. It was the same cost as Nature Heritage thanks to WWI's upgrade, so naturally Tiger Lagoon is my preference. If I knew the price difference I might be happier with Nature Heritage. NH was very nice too.

Here is the trip report from March 2012 to Chambal River, The Agra Bear Rescue Facility, Taj Mahal, Bandhavgarh, Sasan Gir, Velavadar, Little Rann of Kutch.

In sum, all went well with Wild World India again and the wildlife was terrific.

Oh dear, I think censor removed my Fodors report because in the title I mentioned the equine species Wild A$$ES.

The tinyurl link works for the illustrated report on safaritalk.

CarrieT Jun 10th, 2012 11:50 AM

Haha - those censors are really on it! I'll go read it on safaritalk. Thanks for the link!

I was a little worried about not being in the Tala zone when I couldn't get a straight answer on it, but I just gave up and figure I'll just go with the flow. Lynn, good to hear that you had another good experience with WWI.

I think the report title now appears on Fodors.

I just looked at my printed itineraries for 2011 and 2012 and there was no mention of Tala. Even used the find feature. But that is where every drive was.

Sanjay told me that they will maximize drives in Tala but will check the other zones too - just in the event the sightings are better there. I'm comfortable with that - given your experience with them I really trust that they know what they are doing.
