Lcuy, your list is great! Provided me with a needed laugh today.

what lame fool ever started this thread??????!!!!!!!

must be from the europe forum

Gpanda Apr 20th, 2009 02:53 PM

Imagination is in short supply in darkest Needham. The entire town would have to get together for them to have 20 ideas. Here's a start for them:

1. Can I go on Fodors before I cut the grass?
2. Do they have meatloaf in Thailand?
3. How many pairs of shorts should I bring to Hong Kong?
4. Is there a Ramada in Luang Prabang?
5. Why are they so lenient in Singapore?
6. What tribe of Indians settled in Indianesia?
7. Anchor What?

and so on...

Enjoying these lists. I need laughter! I just flew over 12 hours from ORD to NRT in economy+ on UA... no buy-ups to Business Class available. Since they are now using the newly reconfigured 747s, there are fewer seats in business class. Right now I'm not a happy camper... I'm grumpy and sore from trying to be a contortionist in an attempt to get comfortable!! BTW, seat 33k (window-exit row) is about the coldest seat I've ever had on a plane. There was plenty of leg room, but no sleep when I'm chilled to the bone!!! One blanket just doesn't get the job done in that seat. Beware.

I don't have time to jot down my own list of things to think about before posting on fodors. Got another plane to catch. Maybe when I find myself with idle time in BKK...

Carol, be careful you don't catch a cold. After that chilling ride to NRT, you'll land in 100+ Bangkok.

Gpanda Apr 21st, 2009 06:46 AM

Carol, the plane ride from Narita to BKK should give you plenty of time to come up with the 20 things you think about when posting on Fodors. Do the words shopping and maeng give you any hints?

AskOksena Apr 21st, 2009 01:20 PM

>>>1. Can I add any useful information to this thread?<<<

Oh, yes: the occasional subtle promo for a certain Singaporean airline.

Good stuff gpanda and the rest, and, as always, sweet and smooth (SQ) rides to all of you.

Carol - and to think I was going to complain about ANA's "standard" business class seats on our overnight BKK-NRT flight.

Yes, it's hot in Bangkok but this is the first time I have ever seen clear blue skies there.

simpsonc510 Apr 21st, 2009 04:19 PM

Hi Craig! Are you and Jeanne in the city now?

It's clear and sunny at 6am this morning (Wed). I think I slept about 2 hours, maybe less... it's so good to be back in Bangkok.

Michael, the TV screen said it was 77 when we landed. I think that was wrong. But I covered up my head, ear, and neck during that flight from NRT to BKK because my seat mate wanted his fresh air vent on FULL BLAST. What a flight!!!

gpanda... I promise to submit my 20 things. Yes, shopping and Maeng are two good suggestions.

Watch for my live report, starting in a new thread soon.

Carol-will pool be included? The kind with felt, not water.

khunwilko Apr 26th, 2009 07:21 AM

Looks like I've started something - a new style.

maybe content will follow later?

Gpanda Apr 26th, 2009 08:46 AM

KW-one suspects that there is a great deal of content contained in modes of thought. Of course, epistomology is not for everyone. I might also suggest that satire is content. If not, my life has been a bigger waste than I thought.

hawaiiantraveler Apr 26th, 2009 02:51 PM

kw,

you reminded me of someone.....

"to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee"

filmwill Apr 26th, 2009 03:10 PM

oh relax, KW.

and, just taking a stab here...but I don't think you started numbered lists. I'm pretty sure that was before your time. :)

Gpanda Apr 26th, 2009 03:24 PM

HT-I googled your quote and in addition to Ahab, it was apparently also uttered by Khan in the Star Trek movie. A twin killing as they say in baseball.

What KW did start was a numbered list of 20 that ensures that the reader will grow bored before finishing. Sort of like those bullet memos at work that run on for three pages and are immediately forgotten.

hawaiiantraveler Apr 26th, 2009 05:27 PM

Andy, the quote I learned was attributed to a certain jealous needhamite ,who the last I saw, was stabbing away in a frantic rage at a picture of a younger man wearing a speedo......

Gpanda Apr 27th, 2009 01:17 AM

Much younger.

DonTopaz Apr 27th, 2009 04:38 AM

Much younger.

Damning with faint praise.

Gpanda Apr 27th, 2009 08:13 AM

Also younger than Rizutto, for the record. A veritable child.
