20 days Southeast

Hey Fodorites!!

I´m planning my trip to next march 2014, have 20 days and need some advice.
i will arrive and depart from Bangkok, my first idea is to stay 4 days in Bangkok and get some tour in city and sightseeing, a week in good beaches like phi phi, phuket ou krabi, 4 days in Singapore and 4 or 5 days in Bali.. Could some help me? i wanna save some money in transport but i don't want to stay long time in bus or trains...

Many tnks again!!!

To save money and not spend time traveling overland, use the budget airlines. The one with the most flights is Air Asia. They fly between Bangkok and Phuket, Bangkok and Bali. I don't know if they fly the Bangkok to Singapore route non-stop, but they do with a stop and change of planes in Kuala Lumpur. If you are concerned about expenses, Singapore is the most expensive destination you have listed.

I do think you need more time in Bali. Spend at least half of your stay inland near Ubud. Indeed, since you will have spent time at beaches in Thailand, you may not want to stay at a beach on Bali.

For low cost airlines in SE Asia there are several options. I suggest the following:

For Thailand - Air Asia and Nok Air.
For the whole of SE Asia - Air Asia.

Note that you can buy one way tickets cheaply and you on multiple airlines like Nok Air from Bangkok to Krabi and then Air Asia from Phuket to Singapore etc.

They usually allow advance booking unto 3 or 4 months before your intended date and usually the earlier you book the lower the fare.

Post the same time as Kathie! Just to add to Kathie's, yes Air Asia does fly from Bangkok to Singapore direct as well as from Bangkok to Bali direct.

If I were making this trip (and I'm not), I'd skip SIngapore and just choose Thailand and Bali. Yes, the beaches in Thailand are nicer than those in Bali, but the two places are very different culturally. Bali is Hindu, Thailand is Buddhist. It's well worth experiencing both.

The nicest beach in Thailand are located in the Southwest of Thailand along the Andaman sea or around Phuket, Krabi, Khoa Lak, Phi Phi, Ko Lanta etc. I suggest you choose to spend your beach time in March at either Phi Phi, Ko Lanta or Khoa Lak.

I love Bali, I'm a Thai, specifically Ubud. A beautiful little mountain town with lots of culture, beautiful resorts and a very laid back atmosphere. Recommend you research Ubud and see if it interest you.
