2 weeks in asia

Two of us are heading to Hong Kong in November. We have a daughter who lives there, so will be spending time with her and her boy friend. However, we would like to travel to another Asian country also....??? Myamar??? Any suggestions? We like nature and historical sites, some shopping, interesting food. One of has their heart set on photographing boats with vendors selling produce etc. All thoughts appreciated!! My daughter is set on taking us to Bali. Is it feasible to add another country to our itinerary if we have only 2 weeks?

not in my opinion..

Two weeks would, I think, work nicely for HKG and Bali. Don't ruin it by stretching yourself too thin. Two weeks would be the minimum time you'd want to spend in Myanmar by itself. Save it for another trip.

Check flights on air asia.

Myanmar is fascinating. But I'd want a minimum of 10 days to visit the country. So Hong Kong plus Myanmar OR Hong Kong plus Bali. Note that Myanmar takes a lot more research and pre-arrangements than any other country in SE Asia.

Myanmar has the historical sites but not the vendors selling from boats. That is Thailand and maybe others. Neither is Myanmar where you go for interesting food. Food is for the most part, very mundane. Nor did I consider it a "nature" destination. Myanmar is your destination for temples and a step back in time where they still cultivate by hand and oxen. Also for 'exotic'. And I didn't consider it a 'shopping destination'. And it requires more time and effort to get around as well as what Kathie says. Save it for later when you have more time.

How about Malaysia? Sabah especially if like the nature and interesting foods. You might like Kudat and Sandakan, I think.

Ubud in Bali...

I can't vouch for it first hand just yet, but I soon will be able to, and I'd be very surprised if it doesn't fully live up to expectations. Although I'm not looking forward to zillions of motor bikes.

There's loads of blogs online.
