2 nights Phuket - What beach to stay on?

Hi
We are finishing up our trip (Chiang Mail, Siem Reap and Beijing) by flying from Beijing to Phuket on a non-stop early morning flight so we will have 2 1/2 days to explore.

What beach is the best for 2 girls, 23 years old - not crazy partiers. More interested in resting a bit after a long internship in Beijing. Will probably go to a couple of bars at night, but again, not critical. Will do a tour of the islands on our second day for some snorkeling and going to Monkey Beach. We like to hike, and do outdoor activities.

Hotel recommendations would help also. Have heard that Patong Beach is sort of seedy. Not sure if this is true. Is Kata beach too far a distance at 45 minutes from the airport?

This looked like a nice place: Chanalei Garden Resort in Kata. Just worried about the distance and if it what we are looking for
Thanks so much

Go and check out Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort.

Nai Yang is less than 5 minutes from the Airport.

Low-key, beautiful sandy beach, great for a relaxing few days. Have a look at Greenacres guesthouse.

We stayed at the Twinpalms Phuket Resort on Surin Beach. It was really nice and quiet. We'd walk to the beach in the morning and order a fish for lunch (they would ask one of the fishermen to bring one). Hang out at our hotel for a bit and then return to the beach for lunch. Short tuk tuk ride to the Patong area.

LancasterLad is correct Nai Yang is closer and way cheaper.

There are lots of options for you. The only beach I'd actively avoid is Patong. Any of the other beaches would be fine. I'd choose your accommodations and let that make your decision for you.
