2 days in Tokyo, Help!!!

My husband and I will be stopping in Tokyo on our way back from Thailand and Singapore in October. We are stopping here to break up our trip on the way home. We get into town on a Monday at 4:15 in the afternoon and our flight leaves on Wednesday at 6:20pm to go back home. I know nothing about Toyko and have started reading some of the postings. I know I am slightly overwhelmed with all the stuff in the area and know for sure we cannot see it all in the short time we are there. Please help me narrow it down to what we should see and do in the little time we have. My husband and I LOVE sushi, and would love to get a truly authentic japanese dining experience with sushi, but otherwise, we are open. Please help! Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks so much!!

I suggest doing some research here:

You can also do a search for Tokyo. There's lots of info already posted.

It's hard to make recommendations without knowing your area of interest.

You can get good sushi practically everywhere at reasonable prices. Of course if your wallet allows then the sky's the limit. Since
you don't have a lot of time suggest you post where you'll be staying or visiting for more focused suggestions.

My suggestion is to get a sightseeing tour around the city. That can be arranged through your hotel. There is so much to see and it is a wonderful city. The fish market is a must as is just walking and absorbing the sights. Enjoy it!

Can you recommend a private tour guide to take us around the city for either a 1/2 day or full day tour?

with such limited time in such a complicated city, I strongly advise a private tour guide. We used Junko Matsuda based on advice from this site and we were very, very, very pleased with her services.

If you don't already have accommodation booked, I suggest the Mercure Ginza - it's a fab hotel located walking distance to the fish markets and close to underground trains. It is reasonably priced, and oh so clean!
