The famous post office and tthe Notre-Dame Cathedral right opposite.
The Hotel Rex. Have a drink on its terrace on the top floor.
Maybe a stroll through the large and interesting Chinese market (Cholon).

At last report, visas for Vietnam cost US$50, and I while they are supposed to be available on arrival, I have not tried this, so you may have to obtain one before you arrive. I also don't know if the visa on arrival program is available for to citizend of whatever country of which you are a citizen. You might check to make sure you can get a visa on arrival and the cost. Run a search here or go to vietnamembassy-usa.org (This is the website for the Vietnamese embassy in the US, there are links to other embassies from it.)

Cicerone,
Thanks. I have a multi-entry visa to Vietman arranged by the travel agent before going. How about things to do there?
Ursula - thanks for the response also.
Regards

Fate, now that you have done your trip, why don't you post back here with your recommendations? I'd love to hear what you discovered to do there! Or if anyone else has suggestions.
