12 day honeymoon in Thailand

Hi everyone,

I know there are several existing topics floating around about Thailand honeymoons. I was hoping to A) get some specific advice about our itinerary, and B) get any hotel suggestions that would be great for a honeymoon experience.

Proposed itinerary for 12 nights in June:
3 nights in Bangkok
2 nights in Chiang Mai
6 nights in Koh Samui (day trip to Koh Tao)
1 night in Bangkok (flying out the next day)

I have read that the weather in June is very rainy around Phuket and the Andaman Sea, but we do want to include a beach portion of the trip and I think the weather should be good in Koh Samui at that time. Would like to affirm my thinking here!

Any advice you have about the time in each destination and hotels for each place would be wonderful.

Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide!

Yes, Koh Samui should have good weather in June. This looks like a reasonable itinerary.

In Bangkok, plan to stay in a hotel along the river. Lots of options, depending on your budget. If you want hotel suggestions, you need to give us a per night budget.

Thank you for your feedback! As for our hotel budget, we were thinking $500/night maximum, but unsure what type of value that will get us.

The only place you may pay as much as $500 a night is Koh Samui.

In Bangkok, I'd recommend the Peninsula, the Oriental or the Shangri-La.

In Chiang Mai, the 137 Pillars House gets great reviews. The high-priced Dhara Dhevi is too Disney-esque for my tastes.

JamesA - good to see you posting again. Do you have hotels recs for Chiang Mai or Koh Samui?

I would second the peninsula as a perfect honeymoon hotel. all rooms are river facing so there is no bad room.

tamarind village is nice, although not fancy, in chiang mai---great restaurant and in the center of the city.

you might look at renaissance on samui.

If that is USD 500 a night is about THB 17,000 and that is a very high amount , depends what sort of luxury you want , there are places like the Renaisance as Bob has suggested and many others , they vary from modern 'trendy' style places to more local in design , boutique to large resorts , it all depends on your 'style' whether just a nice room or something with pool access or a plunge pool or own pool .
Koh Samui is a dream honeymoon destination

You certainly don't have to spend as much as that but it's up to you

Also accommodation depends whether you want busy or quiet location , there are just so many good ones , Anantara , Sareeraya , Tongsai Bay , that budget can get you even pool villa or a beachside cottage , all depends on style

Chiang Mai again depends on style and it you want to be real city center or somewhat away from center , if you can say the 'style you want' helps.
