Hoping Gpanda can answer this- Does the ROS have 2 (American)double beds in the rooms or 2 twin beds? I stayed there years ago and thought the beds were doubles, also their website says doubles. Thinking of using Starwood points for ROS or Plaza Athenee. We're traveling with 2 children and trying to avoid paying extra for rollaway bed.

Yes, was just there in December. Beds are doubles.

I do not think the ROS allows 4 in a room. May depend on how old your children are.

There are two double beds in the normal room. I do not know whether they allow four to a room. The ROS is in a wonderful location. Just call Starwoods and inquire about four to a room. As you may have noted from another post, the points required may go drastically up, so do it soon. You can always cancel or modify.

One of the benefits of booking directly with them is that rollaway beds are free of charge for children (according to the starwood website)...that, plus you don't have to prepay unless you want to, you can get points for your stay...booking sites charge for extra beds almost always.

And if you book directly with the hotel, they can tell you whether 4 people would be allowed in the room.

I just called the Starwood customer service and booked ROS for 2 adults and 2 children. He did say that it allows 3 in the room, but then he said since they are small children it shouldn't be a problem. We won't need an extra bed since there are 2 doubles.

Originally I booked Plaza Athenee using points and cash, but they charge 1400baht/night for extra bed. So it would have been $320 for 3 nights vs. free at ROS. I prefer the Marriott, but you can't beat free.

Do you know how much the breakfast is at ROS, since its not included when using points?

The breakfast is expensive. We would grab a pastry or two from the faux french bakery on the side of the ROS near the cross river ferry.

As Gpanda said, breakfast is really expensive there; standard big hotel buffet.
Yes, there is a little french bakery if you exit the hotel, turn left and go around the building toward the water. The pastries are fabulous but the coffee is horrible.
Also, if you turn left exiting the hotel and then go right down the first street there is a 7-11 where you can buy things like yogurt, juice, etc.

Thanks Gpanda and Kristina. I have been to that bakery and loved it. One of the mornings we're there is the day we leave- 6am flight on NW.

Kristina- thanks for the picture link. I forgot that you had stayed there recently. I did read your whole report at that time, but wasn't thinking of staying at the ROS until I found out about the Starwood Points.
