£0 day visa exempt - 30 day extension
Apparently from the end of August, those entering Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt pass will be able to extend that for another 30 days for 1900 baht.
|
Thanks, KW, that is good new for lots of people!
It doesn't take care of the issues for those who try to live in Thailand full-time without the proper visa, but it does take care of those who just want a longer stay in Thailand. Do you have a link for this new rule? |
Where can they do this?
|
And you you have a link where we can read all of the rules about this?
|
Here's a link, other than ThaiVisa: http://www.samuitimes.com/longer-vis...ugust-29-2014/
What will be interesting is how the "onward travel" requirement will be handled. Because extensions are not guaranteed, how will airlines view this? |
Its kind of silly. Normally you have to buy a return ticket within 30 days or a flight leaving to satisfy the airlines. So then you would be changing the return flight (normally at extra cost) unless its a more expensive changeable ticket.
Why dont they just give 60 days visa exempt? Malaysia, Sing and Japan already give 90 days. |
Thanks, Curt. Yes, it will be interesting to see how this all works. Thanks for the link.

The "d-day" for visa changes is August 12, but extension changes will wait until 29 Aug.
http://www.stickboybangkok.com/news/...n-august-2014/ Aug 12 is the end of an extended w/e so Iv imagine a lot of extra traffic at the various borders (inc. airports) It remains to be seen how the new measures will be implemented or even coped with by rank and file immigration officials. |
