YUL to LON in January: When to buy?

I'd like to get some help to help me plan ahead. I want to go to London next January. It seems like the cheapest airlines would be Delta. I get a far of 524$ right now.
Can anyone advise me on the best time to buy the ticket and what I could expect to pay?
Thank you!

January is probably about the cheapest time of the year to go to London. But given the situation with rising fuel costs and other uncertainties, I'm not sure how much I would expect to improve on that figure if the price already includes all of the taxes and charges. It's not a bad fare.

Does $524 include taxes? Then I'd buy it.

If not, what is the price with taxes?

Without taxes, 348$ for YUL to LGW from Jan 7th to Jan 18th 2009.
It's the first time I'm thinking about taking a trip that time of the year so I have absolutely NO idea what to expect for airfare. If everybody says it's good, then I'll buy soon!

If it were me, I'd wait. There were plenty of cheap fares to London this past winter. You should be able to find an inexpensive flight on Zoom or Air Transat, but the sales won't start until the fall.

That being said, $524 all in isn't bad.

I forgot to say it was 524$CAN (I think that comes up somewhere around 515$US these days, not that it's such a big difference).

Nessa, I think $524 Cdn, tax in, is a very attractive fare. However, what is the routing? You mentioned Delta, so I assume it's YUL to somewhere in the US and then to London?

There is a layover in New York JFK which I don't really mind. I'll be traveling with a carry-on only so no hassle with the luggage (hopefully!). I believe the layover is something like 3 hours for each way. I could also have only an hour layover which I find a little short since I've never been in JFK by myself and might be a little lost at first. Some other flights have layovers in Cincinnati for the same price.

Let's hope there is no snowstorm in Montreal that would cause a missed connection. I am always willing to pay more for a non-stop, especially in winter.

Nessa, I'm like Gavin: I'd pay more for a non-stop and would add that I'd pay even more to avoid a routing through the US. But if you're comfortable with the routing and the connection time, I think $524 all in is a good fare.
