"Using London’s Heathrow and Mexico City’s Juarez as examples 'of all places'? They are both large international airports, just like Chicago’s O’Hare. Next time I’ll refer to Cuenca or Nairobi"

No. Look at your original post. That's not what your letter says. It says "Mexico's Juarez." I took that to mean the city across the border from El Paso with all the drug violence. I thought, why in the world are you citing THAT place in your letter? So, yes, "that of all places" was a legitimate question. :)

goodness what is a "serpentine" line???

gail Mar 8th, 2011 02:03 PM

A line that coils back and forth on itself - usually marked by roping off lanes - or those pedestals with the retractable tapes on them. If I could draw you a picture here you would get the description better than I can give it in words.

possibly an American word-thanks gail-I get it!!

When I hear that word, I always think of a scene from the 1970s movie comedy, "The In-Laws", in which CIA agent Peter Falk yells at dentist Alan Arkin, "Serpentine! Serpentine!" when Arkin is running straight through a hail of bullets, so Arkin turns around, goes back, and runs the gauntlet a second time, this time "serpentine".

As someone who has Global Entry I cannot tell ALL of you that travel even a few times a year that it is wonderful-best money you will ever spend for traveling!

How long did it take you to get approved for GE?

I have a few trips coming up in April/May.

I did the Global Entry registration/approval in December and completed the whole thing in just over a week. I applied online, got the prompt to schedule the CBP meeting within a day, and then went to the CBP office at ORD to complete (that took about 30 minutes).
