Would this suit case be suitable?
 

Hi all

im new and this is my first time flying in a long time. I need a new suitcase and just wondered in your opinion if this suitcase would be suitable for a 10 day trip (checked luggage)

I don't see why not. I highly recommend getting something with 4 wheels though, so much easier.

thanks for the quick reply. i thought about a 4 wheel i'm just unsure if its the sort of thing that could get easily broken when checked.

I think it depends where you are going, what is the time of year (weather), and what you are going to be doing (business, pleasure, formal, casual, etc.).

I can pack for any length of trip in a 24" roller that I check.

im going to Germany for 10 days end of may to visit a friend. I didn't want to buy something massive but i didn't want to punish myself with something small since ive payed and will pay for checked luggage in the future. 62cm i think is a 24" so im sure its plenty, the case is also expandable too.

I can't open that link (says it's timed-out). But the bad thing about an expandable feature, is on most suitcases it makes it unbalanced and tips over real easily when it's expanded and packed full.

its sold out now, i have ordered one though so ill see how i get on. I probably wont need the expandable feature but its there if i struggle. I Just wondered what sort of size would people generally recommend for a trip of that length?

Re: four wheels.... make sure that you can guide the bag STRAIGHT AHEAD. I bought a big suitcase at T J Maxx and it WON'T steer straight! I still like it though. I tilt it and just use the two back wheels when I'm pulling it through the airport. I plan to use it in July for a week in Paris. It has been to Switzerland and Thailand and is holding up well.

I agree that expandables sometimes get "top heavy" and tend to fall over. Mine is expandable but I've not (yet) used that feature.

Another thing about the 4-wheeled type... if you can, get one that has 2-wheels (double-wheeled) at each corner (8 wheels in all). Much sturdier IMO.

There's no one answer to this question.

Some people go carry-on-only no matter what and would use a small suitcase regardless length of the trip (19-21"). Some people go with a single mid-sized (24-27"). I know a few who swear they can't travel with less than *two* 50 lb. suitcases checked thru.

Suze, I often have 3 70 lb check bags when returning from a couple of weeks in Thailand! (I'm 1K with United so they are free to me)

Looks good to me! Those wheels look sturdy enough.

I always steer away from buying black as there are soooo many black suitcases coming off the baggage carrousel. I prefer something I can recognize right away... but that's just me.

I notice people put bright colored luggage straps around their bags, or put multi-color yarn pieces tied onto the top handle. Helps reconize a bag, I suppose.

I think it looks just fine, circasurvive. As above you will want to put some kind of unique luggage tag, luggage strap, or marking on it, since it's black and very ordinary looking.
