Worried About Air France/CDG Transfers: 2E to 2G and 2D to 2E

I'm flying Air France Premium Economy New York to Paris connecting to a flight to Berlin. I arrive at 6am at Terminal 2E. My connecting flight is at 8:45am from Terminal 2G. 2:45 should be more than enough time. This doesn't worry me. My only question is do I really need to wait for a shuttle bus or can I walk it?

My return flight is another matter. It worries me a lot. I'm taking a 3:55pm flight from Berlin arriving at CDG Terminal 2D at 5:40pm. My connecting flight to NYC leaves at 7:10pm from 2E. If my flight from Berlin is even a little bit late, I can't imagine how I am going to change terminals, clear immigration and go through security in 1:30. Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated.

FYI. I've had a terrible time getting through to anyone at Air France. The hold time is ridiculously long (if they don't cut you off completely). They don't respond to e-mails or on Facebook either!

Thanks!

What airline are you taking to 2G? Air France doesn't use that terminal. And it's in a different zip code, so to speak. Not walkable.

1:30 is fine for your connection on the way back. Just get moving and you'll make it. You can either walk or take the shuttle.

Oh, and if you're able, I suggest walking from 2D to 2E. And so does AF, according to their website.

By any chance do you mean 2F instead of 2G? You can walk from 2E to 2F, I just did it last year.

Sorry rkkwan but 2G is not in a different zip code. It's somewhere in Belgium.

Here's a map of CDG:

Well, I had wanted to say "a different time zone", but thought that was a bit much.

I'm booked Air France all the way. And, yes, it is 2G. Here is the info as it appears on my reservation:

AF1416 - Premium Eco 8:45 AM Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG), FRANCE - Terminal 2G
Last check in time : 8:15 AM

Also, just double-checked, AF 1416 is operated by Air France.

Oh, it's operated by AF Regional to Leipzig. Guess shuttle to 2G it is.

Here is the page that gives you all the information for connecting between AF flights at CDG:

2G hosts all manner of Air France puddle jumpers. It is, as noted, technically in Belgium. You will need to take the shuttle.

From 2D to 2E, I've both walked it and taken the shuttle. I think the shuttle is much faster.

Bear in mind, however, that arrival terminals are not guaranteed, so you could end up landing at 2F, as well. From 2F to 2E, I would walk.

It is still in France. Just over a mile east of the main part of Terminal 2E.

I was alluding to another poster's trip report that Terminal G is somewhere in Belgium. Truthfully it only feels like it's in Belgium.

Not counting passport control and security lines, which we cannot control, about how long does it take to walk from 2E to 2D?

2E to middle of 2D is about half a mile, through the TGV station. About 10-15 minutes walk.

flyer,

the transfer bus can cover that mile in under 10 minutes. Not a big deal. And there is no way to walk to 2G (saving exitting the airport and going around the really long way).

Is this thread still going? For the record, my Air France flight in May was shifted from 2E to 2F, and it was about 10 minutes walk time from 2F to 2E and another four or five minutes to the gate. But it took almost two hours to get through passport control. We had a window of 2 hours and five minutes and still missed our connecting flight. Next time I will not go through CDG without a three-hour window.

Not that unusual for CDG.

I've never spent more than ten minutes at passport control at CDG.

Oops. I had to walk from 2F to 2D, not 2E. I think the problem with passport control at CDG is that it is so unpredictable. I have twice gone through fairly quickly and twice had to endure long slow-moving lines and pasport control agentsl who were slow as molasses.
