Will TSA allow a hat with heavy wire decoration?
I know this is a really bizarre question but I'm hoping they will. I bought a few hats for our trip to Europe next month and realized they might not let one on. Any ideas? I looked at the TSA rules but didn't see much that would apply. It does have fake "barbed wire" on it and that's my biggest concern. Here's a pic if that makes it easier to judge:

"t does have fake "barbed wire" on it" - That sure does look like real barbed wire to me . . . .
The mind boggles why one want a hat covered w/ barbed wire. But I guess style is style . . . .
If the hat is in a checked bag you won't have a problem. I think you may have a big problem wearing it or having it in your carry on.

LMAO, I recognize not everyone would like it...but that's okay. It takes some sass to pull off a hat like that...Paired with a plain black turtleneck, a pair of dark jeans and a black coat, it actually looks pretty darn cute. You just have to make everything else simple and have a h*ll of a lot of confidence, or at least appear to.
I have a few others sans wire...Hope that relieves you guys.
They're called cloches and I'd bet your moms or grandmas had them during their flapper times... In fact, I bought several in Rome last November and one in Florence, so they are in Europe, too...just way more expensive there and I really doubt they sell them in June since they are often made of wool. A bit hot for summer.

I love those hats! Honestly! I wouldn't pay as much, but I really like how they look on pictures.
Why a wire bra is allowed, but a wire hat is not? We'll never know unless you try. Please come back and let us know if you had any problems.

Oh Dahlie, that's a darling hat, I think you'll be adorable in it.
Americans are no longer used to seeing women wearing hats so to many people it's a fashion accessory they don't even think about. But a distinctive hat gives an outfit a "look" that is polished and complete.
Wear it and show those European woman that American's can have style too
.
Oh and don't forget to have a great time.

I love the hat and your projected outfit to wear with it! Thanks for the link; now I want black cloche with the big flower over the ear.
I wore a flowered velvet cloche one trip to Paris and got lots of compliments (and had warm ears despite frigid temps.) A bold hat can make your outdoor look!
I would pack it just to be sure it isn't confiscated and lost forever.
