Why no AA miles flying Royal Jordanian to/from Baghdad?

I do understand (although I disagree with) the economic embargo of Cuba by US. There are daily flights to Cuba run by AA and CO from US, but there are considered "charter flights" and only passengers with US Dept. of Treasury exemptions are allowed to board.

I'm planning on visiting Baghdad in early November and just found out I will not get AA miles for the Amman-Baghdad-Amman flying Royal Jordanian (a oneWorld partner) segments.

What's up with that? Does US have an economic embargo against a country we are trying to "liberate"? and where our young girls and boys are dying on a daily basis?

I don't get it.

Perhaps those are also charter in nature.

Anyways, are you really that upset about a 500-mile segment?

That is very odd.

AAFF, please be careful on your trip to Bagdad, and I do hope you will tell us about it when you return.

Regular daily flights rkkwan.

It's not the few miles I'm upset about, I just want to know why I can't get AA miles on this route?
