Just to be (more) clear: I was defending my friends against th implication that they must be lazy IF they quarantined their animals. I knew that was absolutely not the case, so I offered a reason that they might not have been fully informed. When I realized that it was ME who was wrong, not my friends, I corrected myself.
All of us (including myself) should probably move along, since the OP hasn't bothered to check back in anyway... |

Why do pets have to go into cargo hold?
You mean: why are they treated like animals? Besides the allergy issue, there is also the fact that pets don't know how to use the lavatory (like some of their owners). Been a while since I've seen a troll on fodors. |
In my view, "Each and every one should be innoculated against rabies"!
Sorry, I mean the Posters , not the pets. We've been researching bringing European chipped , innoculated cats to the US, and each airline/cruiseship has its own particular rules and quirks. So far I have learned that only Cunard allows cats/dogs/birds by boat, and for transatlantic flights...there are quirky rules that vary by airlines including weight, month, and who else is flying with a pet on that flight. Research is the only alternative. There are also turnkey services that will pick-up and deliver your pet , but they cost a lot more than a human ticket. This is a tough issue, but no claws please.
