Why Air Fare Remains High?

I have been watching air fares for my transatlantic trip from Chicago for this April since November, 2015. With the price of oil lowest in decades and looming possible global recession, many experts predicted lower air fares for this year, but it has not materialized.
Are all these predictions wrong?
