Which would you choose to fly to FCO?
I'm flying coach SFO to FCO, then MUC to SFO.
Have choices of US Air, Delta, or Lufthansa.
These have the best schedules & connections for us.
Is there a major difference in coach comfort, space or anything else that would make me choose one over the other?
Thanks

Where do they actually connect? US Air probably connects in Philly? Delta in Atlanta or Cincinnati? Lufthansa probably in Frankfurt? I'd weigh the connecting airport in your decision. I'd probably avoid Delta if it connects in Atlanta.

Yes, Philly for UA air, Atlanta for Delta & FRA for Lufthansa...this is on outbound.
LH has nonstop from MUC to SFO.
Is Atlanta a "zoo" to go thru?
The FRA connection gives a little over 2 hrs for connecting (if I get the flt I want)
I don't know much about the various connecting airports thus my need for advice.
Will be flying on Tues/Thurs if that makes any difference.
Thanks

Oh, I'd definitely take Lufthansa if I could get a direct flight back from Munich to San Francisco. They probably have later flights to FCO from FRA if you miss your initial connection - that's really the only thing I'd be worried about, honestly, is missing my connection in FRA. I've never connected in FRA and maybe 2 hrs is enough time, but if there was a later flight to FCO in case I missed my original, I wouldn't worry much at all.

Out of those 3, I'd pick LH and especially so with a nonstop back to SFO from MUC. We've gone through FRA quite a number of times and 2 hrs should be enough time. FRA is very spread out, but easy to navigate IMO. [and yes, ATL can be a zoo]
LH has good service and very decent food (and in sufficient quantities), friendly efficient FAs, free wine etc (if that makes a difference to you). We've had very good experiences with them.

Personally, I would go with Delta, as it will have the most legroom and personal space. Lufthansa will have the least. US Air has a very poor reputation right now, and I would probably avoid them until it is clear they have their act together.
Atlanta is crowded, but it is not that bad to transit through. They do a great job managing the flow of people, all things considered. For the outbound connection, you can easily be from gate to gate in well under 30 minutes, even if you have the two furthest gates in the airport. On the return, it is longer due to the customs and immigration formalities, but they are not that bad. Probably no more than 1 hour gate to gate.
