Which airport for connection?

Seasoned travelers, please give me your opinion. I’m flying in early January from Madison, WI to San Juan, PR and have 2 choices for flights, both having short connection times. They are:

49 min connection at 7:07am United Airlines at ORD Chicago
64 min connection at 10:41am American Airlines at Charlotte, NC

I’m not familiar with United’s terminal and gates at ORD but this flight is usually on time. I’ve read that the flights arriving in Charlotte are also usually on time but often sit on the tarmac waiting for a gate. I’ve never been to this airport but fly out of ORD a lot. 49 minutes is pretty tight though. Any opinions?

I would not take either of those. And I definitely would never take a 49 minutes connection, especially at a HUGE airport like O'Hare, especially in January (weather)!

A 49 minute connection at ORD in Kanuary is a problem waiting to happen. Choose the 64 minute connection at Charlotte if that is only other choice.

If possible look at other options for a slightly longer connection - say about 90 minutes.

>>and have 2 choices for flights<<

Are those your only options? Because neither is very good - the ORD connection is especially bad in January.

If it was me and I absolutely had to be in San Juan by a date certain I might fly in to ORD the night before instead of trying to make a 49 min connection.

Thanks for input. Spent more $$ for a longer connection in ATL.
