Which Airline: Korean Air, JAL, or United

I'll be flying coach from Honolulu to Narita/Tokyo. It will be a 9+ hour daytime flight. So entertainment choices and food matter. Comfort for sleeping, not so much.

Thanks!

Korean Air, JAL, and United all offer similar fares and schedules.

Which one should I choose??? Thanks!

Have you read the reviews online at Skytrax..

Korean Air -8/10

JAL- 7/10

Hawaiian - 5/10

United - 3/10

I know I wouldnt choose United.. lol

I would read some reviews and see if the things you really want are mentioned in individual reviews.

Thanks so much!
Korean Air looks like the winner.

Some considerations:

This is a route where everybody codeshares to some extent. Half of the United flights are actually operated by ANA, a Japanese Star Alliance affiliate, half the Delta flights are operated by Korean (a Skyteam partner) and some of the Hawaiian flights are actually operated by JAL.

I personally would look at SeatGuru and decide which model plane best suits you. Some of the Hawaiian flights have wider seats and more legroom, for example, which can make a big difference on a long flight. However, some of both ANA's and JAL's flights are on Boeing 787s, which have bigger windows and which maintain a higher air pressure in the cabins, which for many people results in a more comfortable flight - less drying out, less tired on landing, etc. However those planes might have less legroom or a narrower seat, so it's a tradeoff.

If you accumulate American Airlines miles, only JAL will give you miles for the trip, although with your fare class it's not going to be a big haul.

These are great suggestions, Gardyloo.
You get BIG points for your advice for this trip!

If we overnight one night at Narita we'll arrive, go to sleep, and leave first thing in the morning. So we will add a night and do an all-day city tour. I'm trying to talk DP into staying three nights so we could go to the shrine near the airport on the additional day. Your advice made all the difference.

Mahalo nui loa!

Booked! Japan Airlines based on the review of the comfortable, large seats.
