AAFF,

This is the single most disgraceful post I've ever read on any internet forum.

How dare you belittle the expereinces of wartime Jews by making flippant remarks about Nazis. Your arrogance is beyond belief.

I believe you should apologise forthwith. Regardless, I think a banning would not be inappropriate.

I guess you never heard of the soup nazi? hint: Seinfeld (oh wait, he's Jewish)

how about if you just learn how to relax and have a sense of humor?

Wally, how about complementing this one with a thread for the 'most polite' flight attendants, would be interesting !

Are you sure you don't want to use "hotest" or "Best Figure" or "prettiest lips" or "want to be held captive in the same room with?"

The way United FAs on international flights treating non-English speaking passengers is so rude, just because you shout louder and louder doesn't mean the poor person is going to get it, simple hand gestures would be kinder.

Oh, United is the worst! Absolutely, hands down!

My husband bought (cold, hard CASH - not miles) a first class ticket from Syracuse to Alaska in July. The regional jet from Syr/Ord was switched, but they refused him First Class saying they had to save those seats for their mileage customers!!!! Even with a seat left after the door closed the FA moved up someone else and wouldn't even discuss it with him!!

That MIGHT have been a one time occurence, but for the fact that our family of four adults went to Alaska for a cruise two weeks after he returned home - again on United.

THIS time a mechanical problem left us on the tarmac in Vancouver, BC, for two hours, causing every passenger to miss their connection. How did the FA's on our flight handle it?

Simple questions got a shrug and (I'm not kidding), "everyone has a bad day!", snack boxes were still charged $5 instead of waving the charge for the inconvenience (we refused to pay), they RAN OUT of snack boxes 2/3's of the way through the cabin (they "apologized" over the loudspeaker, offered pretzels instead, then never came through with them! Some passengers went more than six hours without food), and one FA never so much as smiled throughout the trip.

As my husband told our travel agent - we're 49 years old, retired, and intend to travel a lot ( seven trips of over 6,000 miles each this year alone), but if it EVER comes down to going somewhere we'd like and having to fly United, we will stay home. End of story!

I hope someone from this horrible airline reads this and sends it to their CEO!!

United had first class from SYR to ORD? If you think you didn't get what you paid for you should contact UA, write to the CEO yourself. That's United Express, and probably had Ex Plus seats.

I think you posted to the wrong thread. This one is about rude FAs. It doesn't sound like the FAs were rude at all, they just weren't able to give you what you wanted. You should have posted under the "I'll never fly this airline again" thread.

Generally speaking there has been a drop in professional standards from FAs but as a lot of other writers have noted its a job you wouldn't really want. There is however no excuse for poor service and I honestly believe that people apply for FA jobs that aren't really suited to it. It also begs the question why the airline training 'system' allows them through.

It is a reflection of the times that most societies are becoming ruder and unfortunately FAs are a part of it. As an Aussie I don't think much of Qantas but all of the US airlines staff I've encountered have been great - this despite the fact that most US passengers insist on bringing onboard a grand piano and the kitchen sink as hand luggage and can't be bothered with listening to the FAs instructions / advice. I've never understood why my American friends want to sue everybody and insist on calling their lawyer (are you guys issued with one at birth?) and sometimes I see why the FAs "turn off".

We recently splurged on first class tickets from SFO to Cleveland for a biz trip; fine on the way over, but on the way back, on Continental, we had a flight attendant who could not, would not, shut the f*** up! Contantly, I mean constantly, loudly talking at us or at the people behind us -- this was an evening flight, leaving at 10:45 p.m., and after a bit we really just wanted to catch some rest if not sleep. The DH would be covered in a blanket neck to feet, eyes closed, clearly trying to sleep, and she would again have at him every 20 minutes or so. The longest and most irritating domestic flight in quite a while.
Seems like it can be feast or famine with FA service.

HI I'm new..I saw this post and thought I would give a few thoughts. FA's jobs are like any other jobs.. yep, we all have BADDDDD days and issues that come up at home..but those issues should be left at the door, when you go to work. FA's are customer service reps. for whatever airline they work for....there job is to give good service. There are senior FA's on every plane, they also should be doing their job and writing them up! As a family of a airline employee who flies on passes, we are required to dress a certain way..AND if we don't my family member is reported...I guess you have to consider the sources today that contribute (none of the acceptable), society in general (customer service wise), the airlines in not taking an active part in the problem, and us the people for not bombarding the airlines in complaints. that is the only way chage happens because people are are not going to stop flying.
I must say the most gracious FA's I have run into (and its not the airline my family works for) is Hawaiian.. the aloha spirit prevails. Now if you want me to really get on a roll, lets talk parents not taking care of their kids on planes!! UGH!!
Aloha

The AA FAs who used to be based out of Nashville were the RUDEST as an overall group of any I have ever encountered. Of course the AA gate agents were so rude that they actually made the FAs look charming and gracious.

I once complianed to the station manger about my treatment by an agent at AA in Nashville (This was in the days of paper tickets, she TORE up my return ticket and threw it in her trash can. WHen I made the manager get it out she then claimed that I had somehow CLIMBED behind the counter and done this....) The Station Manager told me they were rude because they were worried about losing thier jobs.... well that was one way to keep them.... DRIVE OFF THE PAYING CUSTOMERS.. That works every time doesn't it?????

After meeting this guy it all made sense. He thought that dealing with "lowly paying passnegers" was a pain and that attitude pretty much covered the entire station.

Alitalia without a doubt has the rudest flight attendants, even first class! They must hate their jobs.

My worst experience was in first class on Air France. I've never had food thrown at me in quite that way before. It really lowered my opinion of Air France tremendously. Especially after I complained to the airline and recieved no reply. I mean really, who throws food at paying customers? If I hadn't played softball in high school, my husband would have been wearing dinner.
