Which airline for nonstop travel Bos-Lon in September?

Hi,

Right now AA, BA and Virgin are all around $ 960 nonstop from Bos to LHR for travel in September. Is one airline better than the others for the economy seats? Also, is there usually a sale for September flights during the next couple of months or should I book now? Thanks!

I've flown BA redeye from Seattle to London and always had a positive experience (4 trips).

Thanks Suze! I'm leaning toward BA redeye too! Just wish I knew if there is typically a fall sale!!

Frankly, I think they will all be relatively similar. Virgin is likely to have the best IFE (in-flight entertainment) options, but a lot of folks find their seating to be cramped. BA offers good all-around service, IMO. AA will probably be your best bet if you accumulate frequent flyer miles.

As for a sale... No guarantees, but I would probably hold out for something less than $960 (maybe $700?), provided you have the stomach for it. Pricing across the pond has been high this year, but this just doesn't seem like a great deal on what is a very competitive route.

Oh, and FWIW, I really prefer the daylight flights from Boston to London. The overnight flights are so short that it is tough to get much sleep and the daylight flights let you fly while awake, land at night, grab some dinner, and get to bed. Much more pleasant.

Thanks for the replies, travelgourmet!! Do nonstop flights Bos to LHR actually go as low as $700 for September? At this point I'd be happy with $800!

Well, you used to be able to fly this route for as low as $350.

However, it is a different era now and it is really hard to tell what fares are going to be this year. Like I said, it depends upon whether you have the stomach for holding out or not - I make no guarantees, and you could end up paying more or having to take a connection.

Thanks again!! I'm giving it a few more weeks while keeping my fingers crossed!!! :)

Ditto what travelgourmet says about the day flight. I much prefer that over the overnight flight. The flight is too short to have any meaningful sleep.

Since I'm flying all the way from the west coast (Seattle) that's why the overnight works best from here. It IS a long flight enough to mimic a night's sleep. I guess it's different starting already on the east coast US.

If anyone else is interested in this flight, it just went down to $771, nonstop, Bos to LHR today! So glad I waited!! BTW, I decided to fly during the day, hopefully eliminating the jetlag!! Thanks for the help! :)

Oops, forgot to say the lower fare is through American Airlines!
