When to resrve seats on Iberia and is there a fee?

We are gong to be flying JFK to Madrid and return Seville back to JFK. Flying out we are on AA and can reserve seats when we book the flight. However, the return trip, 2 fights, Seville to Madrid and then Madrid to JFK, are on Iberia and you can't reserve seats at the time of booking. When can we finally reserve them and will it cost us extra? I can't find this information on the Iberia website.

Who's issuing the ticket? Do your return flights carry AA codeshare or Iberia flight numbers?

Your ability to book seats will depend on the specific fare you've booked. Look at https://www.iberia.com/us/seat-reservation/ for more information. You'll need the Iberia record locator (six letters/numbers) which will be different from AA's (different systems.) Once you have that, you can go to the "manage my booking" page on Iberia's website and deal with seats there. If you can't find the Iberia locator, phone AA and they'll give it to you.

I booked on AA. Thus I was able to reserve my outgoing seats as they were on an AA plane. I will call AA to get the Iberia code. Thanks.

Sevilla to Madrid might not even be Iberia. It could be Vueling or the other Iberia low cost airline. Picking a date in random on Google flights all I see is

iberia Operated by Air Nostrum. There are no Iberia operated flights.

I'm not so concerned with seats on the short flight Seville to Madrid. Just want to reserve for the long flight Madrid back to JFK. Since I booked this on AA, they code share and the reservation says "Iberia", but who knows. As long as it gets me there!
