When to book flight to Dublin for summer travel for best rate
 

Traveling to ireland at the end of June with 6 people. The prices seemed to be increasing; however, I have heard booking flights in February get you the best deal. Is there any truth to this. Unsure if I book now at $950 rt or wait to see if they drop.

The best time to book the flight is when you see a price you can afford. It's not going to be magically February. It might be now, it might be later depending on sales and demand. But I don't think you should count on a bargain. Check a web site like AirfareWatchdog.com to see what their forecasts are, and then make your decision.

Some European carriers were having sales right before Christmas that stretched into May. I haven't seen any sales so far that stretch into June, but I'm not really watching the European carriers as carefully as others.

In 2012, the time you have picked was the most costly for crossing the Atlantic to anywhere.In my case, to Ireland, I might have saved a few dollars buying in February rather than April, but not a significant amount. After you have bought your tickets you may see a lower price on a sudden and very limited sale but these were rare in 2012 because demand for seats was high and the planes were flying full.

Beware of the "fees" that are tacked on to fares in Great Britain. Usually, to get to Dublin, you go through Heathrow.

I just booked some FF miles in to Dublin and out of Edinburgh.

Fees were $460 per person. I deliberately flew AA as it had cheaper fees. Flying BA, the fees were $900+ per person.

After much searching, I found the link that talks about fees and fuel surcharges. It's a bit complicated, but that's what the world of air travel is now days.
