When to book Chicago - Istanbul
We are planning a trip to Istanbul at the end of March. With the current holiday season rush, I'm concerned about getting the best deals on airfare. Chicago to Istanbul roundtrip is currently around $600-800. Should I just book the tickets now, or wait until after Christmas, or even after New Years?

I just checked ORD-IST fares on travelocity. They have a Lufthansa fare of $448. Taxes and fees of $255.30. Service fee of five bucks. $708 total.
About the same on British Airways.
Can't see how the fare could get much lower. The t+f must include fuel surcharges. Yesterday I read something about the airlines cutting back on the fuel surcharges.

I agree with mjz about Istanbul being a really great destination. I picked it up on a very good deal using a Northwest zone coupon in March 2004, but I haven't seen a current edition featuring European destinations. I'm thinking you should be able to get something in the $600 range and possibly a little less, if you're fortunate. I wouldn't book at the $800 level for late March.

We flew nonstop out of ORD on Turkish Airlines to Istanbul a few years back and I would definitely look into some type of nonstop flight to get there.Delta flys nonstop to Istanbul from JFK and Atlanta too- which I would have preferred because of the food, service and movies offered. Turkish airlines only showed 1 movie on the mainscreen in economy going there and back.
