I'm interested to hear about the wheelchair service at Heathrow, as I'll need that in the spring. On our recent trip to Hawaii I found that the good wheelchair service in past years has gone way downhill. When we returned to our local airport a wheelchair attendant was waiting, but after she pushed me and another woman out to the gate she disappeared back into the plane. After a 20-minute wait we gave up; I piled my carry-ons onto the wheelchair and pushed it all the way down to baggage claim, where my husband was waiting. And waiting. Very poor service indeed. What if I couldn't have managed the walk?

On our return flight from Nice in the spring we have a 20-minute connection in Phoenix. No chance we'll make it. Fortunately we have insurance to cover a night's stay in a hotel.
