What sites should I try?
 

I'm still on the hunt for tickets to London in September, and not finding a lot. We can go any Friday - Sunday (10-day) or Saturday-Saturday, or combination thereof. We live in Nashville, but could fly out of BHM, ATL, MEM, HSV, CVG - if we could get a significantly cheaper fare to make it worth the drive. The problem I'm running into is that I'm not finding much in the way of sites that check multiple airlines and let you see all LON airports, or let you check from multiple regional airports. I miss my access to SABRE. :-( Any suggestions on sites or strategies I should try?

If you are looking for a sale right now for travel in September, you are looking far too soon. There will be sales, but probably not until July. Use a site like kayak to try to get some historical perspective. But September is still pretty busy, though I have found good prices in the past then.

I think that regardless of your combination the $1K plus fare is just what it is right now. It may come down, but probably not as far as in past years.

I always try http://www.momondo.com to check what airlines serve the route I want to travel... After that I check the airlines website (webdeals and so on)... Cheapest fare I found was 835 US$...

Hi Jenny. I agree that it's a little early to find the cheapest fare for September travel.

In the meantime, you might want to subscribe to various website "fare trackers". You can either select the air fare and receive an alert if the tracker finds a carrier that will fly you at that price...or, after you've done a flight search, you can set the fare tracker to email you of any drop in price.

Some that I have found helpful are:

- sidestep.com's FareTracker (very similar to kayak.com)
- hotwire.com's "Just Browsing? Watch this trip"
- orbitz.com's Deal Detector
- airfarewatchdog.com's Fare Alert
- tripadvisor.com's "Get Fare Alerts"

travelocity.com has a fare alert too.

Oh, and trackle.com will alert you to set price fares as well.
