I love Heathrow but my vote doesn't count since it's the only one I've flown through. You have to walk forever after getting off the plane but when you're departing from LHR, the Admiral's Club is great & there are great shops to wander through.

Can't believe anyone actually likes Heathrow! But a decent lounge helps. The Virgin Flying Club at Heathrow is truly fabulous, I wouldn't mind moving in and living there.

In terms of efficiency, City beats all. Least likely delays in take-off/landing/luggage handling. Heathrow (esp Terminals 2&3) at the bottom.

In terms of shopping and louge facility, Heathrow beats all.

In terms of shortest distance from where I live, Heathrow (can't beat as I live 5min cab ride from Paddington) and City, followed by Stansted and Gatwick, Luton at the bottom.

I've never had a problem with Heathrow and it is closer to the city of London. It also offers more connections. I flew into Gatwick when I had to connect with EasyJet.

I liked the fact that the duty free stores at Heathrow had small bottles of booze that I could purchase after going through security. Nice Touch!

Of the three London airports you mention I have only used Heathrow and Gatwick - preference would be Gatwick.

Of the other two airports from which you can reach London I would not rate one higher than the other.

Yes, but if you have to connect once you arrive in the United States, you will need to go through security again, so make sure you can finish the entire bottle.

I don't like waste.
